Multicraft Electrical Services Ltd is a family-run business based in the Cambridgeshire village of Kimbolton. We were founded in 1992 as Multicraft Services, becoming a limited company in 2009. Our founder Steve Hughes still runs the business, and has now been joined by his son Gareth. Both Steve and Gareth are committed to delivering high quality electrical services with the personal touch you get from a well-established family business.
All of our electricians are fully trained, with qualifications in all areas of testing, inspection and installation. We pride ourselves on staying up-to-date with all the latest industry developments, and we ensure all our electricians take part in regular training covering the latest health and safety regulations. We also hold qualifications in more specialised services such as the installation of photovoltaic systems. All work is carried out by our in-house team, guaranteeing that everyone is working to the same high standards that have made our Kimbolton-based business a success.

Meet The Directors
Steve Hughes – Managing Director
I’m Steve the founder of Multicraft Electrical Services Ltd and its managing director. I left school in 1976 and started a 4-year apprenticeship with a local Bedford electrical contractor called G A Goble. I attended college once a week and ended up as a qualified electrician.
By 1985 I felt it was time to strike out on my own. So I left G A Goble and started the company that became Multicraft Electrical Services Ltd. I’ve always worked mainly in the local area, although that local area has got a little bigger as our good reputation spread.
In the same period of time I’ve also helped raise 4 children. I’m very proud of the fact that 1 of them has chosen to follow me into the business. All of this has given me very little time to take part in leisure activities. However about 15 years ago I started to play golf which has now turned into a great passion. I also enjoy travelling but always look forward to getting back to Cambridgeshire.
Gareth Hughes – Operations Director
I’m Gareth the operations director of Multicraft Electrical Services Ltd and Steve’s son. I joined the business in 2002, straight after I’d completed my GCSEs. My dad was keen for me to gain a trade qualification and then see if I wanted to continue in the business, so I went to Peterborough College 1 day a week to complete my JTL apprenticeship. I stayed with the business and have continued to gain more and more qualifications.
It’s not all work though as I have taken quite a bit of time out from the business to go travelling and indulge my love of skiing. I met my girlfriend in 2009 when I was skiing in Courchevel and we know live together with our black labrador, Leo. I also play tennis, run, cycle and take part in CrossFit sessions, and try to do some form of exercise at least 4 times a week. Even if it if I have to get up at 5.40 a.m.
My girlfriend and I get a lot out of travelling and seeing in different cultures. In 2016 we took a year out to travel around Australia. I returned to the business fully refreshed and ready to take up a bigger role. I’ve never regretted my decision to stay at Multicraft and think that working in a family firm means I have both a financial and an emotional stake in the business. This makes me particularly committed to giving an exceptional service to all our customers.
